SAGE THEATRE

Sage Theatre takes audiences on bold, intimate and thoughtful journeys exploring the human condition, featuring talented Albertan artists. Currently led by Artistic Director Jason Mehmel, the innovative Calgary theatre company was founded in 1998 under the leadership of Rob Moffat. Its production highlights include the Canadian premiere of My Name is Rachel Corrie in 2007, the world premiere of Meg Braem’s Blood: A Scientific Romance in 2011, the world premiere of Legislating Love: The Everett Klippert Story in 2018, and many award-winning plays. In 2005, Sage Theatre founded the Ignite! Festival for Emerging Artists which produces new one-act plays and dance performances and enables emerging artists to showcase and develop their skills.
